Our Mission
The mission of the Pregnancy Resource Centers is to reach out with the love of Christ to those in unplanned pregnancy situations by informing them of positive alternatives to abortion, providing life-affirming physical, mental, and spiritual health care, encouraging abstinence outside of marriage, and providing necessary resources to those who have chosen life, as well as, compassionately embracing those who have suffered the trauma of abortion.
Our History
The Pregnancy Testing Center (PTC), dba Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC), a 501(c)(3) organization, is located in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Started in a private home by a couple who saw the existing need, services have expanded over the years to include several counties along the Texas / Mexico border. Statistics in Texas show these areas to be among the poorest in both socioeconomic status, and in affordable, accessible obstetrical and preventative care for women.
Our Motto
Our Pregnancy Resource Centers are here to build a “Culture of LIFE”

Melissa Sanchez Smith
Executive Director/Harlingen Center Director
A life turned around by the mighty and merciful hand of GOD. At the lowest point in her life she wondered why she was on Earth, she wondered the meaning to life, because the painful life she lived, was one not worth living. Until she had an encounter with the Lord, an encounter that changed her life completely. The Lord delivered her from so many things, most importantly, GOD made her realize that the one thing her soul desperately longed for was Him all along. Since then, God awoke a deep passion for spreading the good news, this fiery passion wouldn't leave her, she needed to go and tell people about this deliverer and lover of her soul, she knew there was many other people who longed and thirst for God unaware, just like she had. She quickly got to work, sharing this good news at the grocery stores, gas stations, malls, and even went knocking on doors that eventually lead to organizing outreaches all over the RGV. She's been in the ministry 13 years, served in several ministries, and started a women's ministry that caters to making disciples.
Melissa is currently serving as Executive Director after 8 years as center director. She loves and is proud to share what Jesus Christ has done in her life and is honored to be able to share this message at The Pregnancy Resource Centers of the RGV. She is married and lives in Harlingen, Tx.
" I use to be ashamed to share about my life, until GOD stepped in!"
